About KingsPath

KingsPath

KingsPath is the Clinical Diagnostic Pathology Service at King's College Hospital.

We offer a comprehensive, clinical diagnostic pathology service to King's, other NHS trusts, Primary Care and the independent sector. In addition, we support clinical and research trials in association with partners in the private and public sector.

We have now come to an end of a major re-development programme which has seen the investment of £8m in our pathology service. This includes investment in a state-of-the-art Blood Sciences Laboratory and a Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory. The Blood Sciences Laboratory, completed in October 2006, is one of the largest, integrated, automated laboratories in Europe, ensuring KingsPath remains at the forefront of developments in Pathology.

Following the issue of the Lord Carter of Coles' "Review of Pathology Services in England" report in August 2006, KingsPath was confirmed as one of only 12 national pilot projects for future pathology service reforms. This programme of pilot projects aims, in the words of the Health Minister, Lord Warner, to "trial the way forward in partnership with the NHS and provide robust evidence to guide future reforms".
