Extension of temporary closure of King’s perinatal post-mortem service to 31st December 2007

We regret to inform you that we will be extending the period of temporary closure of our perinatal post-mortem service. We anticipate that the service will now resume normal operations from 1st January 2008 and will keep you updated.

Interim Arrangements:

During the closure of our service, the following interim arrangements will be in place:

All cases, with appropriate consent and request forms to be directed to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, who have agreed to receive them during this period. Please contact Great Ormond Street before sending a case to them (see contact details below):

Great Ormond Street Hospital

Histopathology Department

Marion Malone 020 7829 8663

Switchboard: 020 7405 9200

Please note that if cases do arrive at our mortuary before 1st January 2008, they will be returned to the referrer.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope you will return to us once full service resumes on 1st January.

*Please note that once our service re-opens on 1st January, we will only accept cases that are up to 1 week old. Cases over 1 week old will not be accepted unless express approval to receive such cases is given by our consultant perinatal pathologist, Dr Elena Pollina.
