Upcoming Improvements to CDT Test Method (Oct 2007)
From November, CDT (Carbohydrate Deficient Transferrin) determination will be performed by a superior capillary electrophoresis (CE) method. This will result in improved service quality and result turnaround time.
Changes to Reference Range
From November, there will be a change in the reference ranges, as detailed below. Result reports for samples measured by the new CE method will contain a comment reminding users of these changes.
Reference ranges for CE method
CDT < or = 1.5% : No excess alcohol intake
CDT 1.6-1.9% : Intake may be high but not necessarily in the range of dependence
CDT > or = 2.0% : Excess alcohol intake
