Purpose of the test
Description: Deficiency of Glutathione is a very rare cause of haemolysis
Reference Range
6.3 - 9.1 mmol/g Hb
Sample Requirements
Minimum 1 ml EDTA blood. FBC and reticulocyte count must be performed and results sent with samples.
Storage and Transport
Samples can be sent first class post. Samples must be received in the laboratory within 3 days of collection. If there is a delay in sending store at 4°C and send a normal sample collected on the same day to act as a travel control.

Factors affecting results or interpretation
Recent blood transfusion.
Raised reticulocyte levels and/or raised WBC levels may affect assay.
