Purpose of the test
Description: Normal haemoglobin remains stable when heated at 50°C for 60 minutes. However, partially denatured haemoglobin, as seen with Heinz body formation, will precipitate.

Sample Requirements
Minimum 1 ml EDTA blood. It is recommended a FBC is performed and results sent with sample for interpretive purposes.
Storage and Transport
Fresh blood is required, it must arrive the same day or the day after collection.
