Purpose of the test
Description: Heinz body formation is non specific and indicates the presence of haemolysis due to drug ingestion, red cell enzyme deficiency or an unstable haemoglobin.

Sample Requirements
Minimum 1 ml EDTA blood. It is recommended a FBC is performed and results sent with sample for interpretive purposes.
Storage and Transport
Fresh blood is required, it must arrive the same day or the day after collection.
