Purpose of the test
Description: Deficiency can be cause of Methaemoglobinaemia
Reference Range
11.5 - 26.9 IU/g Hb
Sample Requirements
Minimum 1 ml EDTA blood. It is recommended a FBC is performed and results sent with sample for interpretive purposes.
Factors known to affect the test or its interpretation: Recent blood transfusion.
Storage and Transport
Samples can be sent first class post. Samples must be received in the laboratory within 3 days of collection. If there is a delay in sending store at 4°C and send a normal sample collected on the same day to act as a travel control.
