Purpose of the test
Description: This test gives an indication of the surface area to volume ratio of red blood cells and is most useful in the diagnosis of Hereditary Spherocytosis.

Sample Requirements
2 X 5 ml Heparin blood. Samples must tested on day of collection. As the test involves an incubated analysis samples cannot be accepted on Fridays.
Storage and Transport
Can only be performed by arrangement with the laboaratory. Sample must be tested on day of collection. As samples must be tested on the same day it is advisable to refer the patient.
