Purpose of the test
Description: Haemoglobin H and other unstable haemoglobins readily denature under oxidative stress to form intra cellular inclusion bodies. Hb H bodies are looked for in samples from patients that are suspected of having alpha thalassaemia trait, Hb H disease or an unstable haemoglobin.

Sample Requirements
Minimum 1 ml EDTA blood. If required will be performed as part of Sickle Cell and Thalssaemia Screen.
Storage and Transport
Test can be performed on samples up to 3 days old providing the sample has been kept refrigerated
