Purpose of the test
Both of these assays (antigen specific ELISAs) are performed on those sera, which are ANCA positive, by indirect immunofluorescence. There may also be clinical grounds for performing these investigations on ANCA negative sera, though this is a rare event.
Anti-MPO is primarily associated with idiopathic crescentic glomerulonephritis, Churg-Strauss syndrome and microscopic polyangiitis. Anti-PR3 is associated with Wegner’s granulomatosis. However, the above associations are not exclusive.

Factors affecting results or interpretation
All tests are compromised by prolonged transit times. For this reason, date of bleed and date of postage must be provided with each request.
