Purpose of the test
Autoantibodies to the adrenal cortex are seen in approximately 70% of patients with “idiopathic” or primary (autoimmune) Addison’s disease. They may also form part of the autoantibody spectrum seen in the autoimmune polyendocrinopathies.
The investigation offered is based on indirect immunofluorescence using primate adrenal tissue as substrate.

All tests are compromised by prolonged transit times. For this reason, date of bleed and date of postage must be provided with each request.
